Micro screws M1–M3 in electronics: cam-out, RoHS and traceability

Typical electronics applications
Smartphones, TWS earbuds, dashcams and 5G IoT modules use M1 down to M0.6 micro machine screws, mainly pan head (GB/T 818) and countersunk (GB/T 819). With such small drive surfaces, cam-out is the top failure — pair each screw with a properly torqued micro driver and match the pilot hole to the thread (coarse / fine).
Material, magnetism and RoHS compliance
304 stainless is the standard choice; 316L with relative permeability μ ≤ 1.05 serves anti-magnetic needs around sensors and RF. Avoid hexavalent chromium and finish to RoHS 2.0 plus REACH SVHC limits. For EU and US shipments request material certificates, salt-spray reports and hazardous-substance test reports; spot-check with XRF when needed.
Anti cam-out and batch traceability
M1–M2 tightening torque is only 0.05–0.2 N·m — use a torque-controlled micro driver, soft-jaw bits and cushioned fixturing to keep the recess from rounding.
