Why curtain wall fasteners are specified so strictly
Curtain wall brackets carry wind load, thermal expansion and long-term vibration — a loosened or corroded fastener directly endangers the building, which is why curtain wall projects set strict requirements on material, strength and corrosion resistance. High-strength bolts are commonly 8.8 / 10.9 grade (GB/T 1228, ISO 898-1); stainless parts should follow ISO 3506, choosing A2 (304) or A4 (316), with material certificates provided.
Material and locking design essentials
For exposed or coastal curtain wall zones, prefer 316 stainless steel; indoors, 304 or high-strength plated parts are fine. Add locking washers, nylon insert nuts or anaerobic adhesive at joints to resist wind-induced loosening. Bolts connecting brackets to the main structure must follow the design grade and plating, with hole size, embedment and tightening torque verified to achieve the required preload.
Corrosion acceptance and common requirements
Galvanised parts follow GB/T 13912 hot-dip galvanising thickness control; Dacromet is an option for demanding zones. Stainless parts should be passivated and validated by ASTM B117 salt-spray testing.
