JIALI exhibits at Hong Kong International Hardware Show

What we brought to the show
The Hong Kong International Hardware Show is the year's key sourcing event for the local hardware and engineering trade, and visitors are mostly procurement staff from engineering firms, plant managers and traders. What they want to know is rarely 'do you stock this size' but 'can you make this non-standard part, how fast, and what documentation comes with it'. So instead of filling the booth with standard parts, we focused on three things: a set of made-to-drawing samples (special bolts, unusual head styles and extended threaded rods), a sample set spanning five standards systems (GB / DIN / ANSI / ISO / JIS), and a clear walkthrough of the process from enquiry to delivery. We also brought physical samples of material certificates and salt-spray reports so visitors could see exactly what documentation they would receive at acceptance — far more convincing than a verbal promise. Over the show we met local SMEs, engineering contractors, traders and end-user factories, with discussion centring on custom capability and lead-time certainty.
The three things customers asked about most
Enquiries clustered in three areas. Small-batch custom work came first: many visitors were developing prototypes or repairing equipment and needed only tens to hundreds of pieces, and had previously been pushed into alternatives because they could not meet a supplier's minimum order quantity. We made clear that our non-standard work carries no high threshold — from prototypes through small-batch trials. Special materials came second: 2205 duplex, titanium Ti-6Al-4V, B7 / B16 heat-resistant alloy steel and similar grades that ordinary hardware shops simply do not stock, leaving customers without an obvious supplier. Lead-time guarantees and complete documentation came third, and mattered most to engineering customers, since material certificates, salt-spray reports and batch traceability directly affect project acceptance. Every enquiry was logged after the show and followed up individually, and a good share have since moved to formal quotations and sample approval.
Our custom capability: the full path from drawing to production
Many customers think of 'custom fasteners' as simply 'someone who can make an unusual screw', but the full chain has five stages. First, drawing review: confirming material, property class, thread specification, tolerances and finish — this is where most problems start, since one unmarked chamfer or heat-treatment note can double the cost. Second, manufacturability assessment: cold heading suits high-volume standard parts while turning suits small batches of unusual shapes, and the chosen route directly drives unit price and lead time. Third, sample approval: samples go through dimensional inspection and, where relevant, performance testing (hardness, torque, salt spray) before batch release. Fourth, production with in-process inspection. Fifth, shipping with documentation — material certificates, test reports and packaging identification. Our experience is that getting the first two stages right removes most of the rework and delay later on.
Turning a show enquiry into a reliable supply relationship
A good conversation at a show does not guarantee smooth supply later. To turn one enquiry into a dependable relationship, we suggest three steps. Start with samples: run a small batch through real service conditions to verify fit, assembly efficiency and corrosion performance before committing to volume. Define acceptance criteria and documentation: put material certificates, test items, packaging identification and permitted dimensional tolerances into the purchase order rather than relying on verbal agreement, so every subsequent batch has a clear basis. Build a two-track supply: keep at least two viable sources for critical sizes, with the primary supplier handling regular volume and a backup covering urgent orders or sudden shortages, and compare the two periodically for consistency.
